OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH
UNITY in our essential beliefs
LIBERTY in non-essential beliefs
LOVE in all our beliefs
THE ESSENTIALS WE BELIEVE
ABOUT GOD God is the Creator and Ruler of the Universe. He eternally exists in three personalities: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
ABOUT JESUS CHRIST Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all mankind by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days and He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday.
ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT The Holy Spirit is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. As Christians, we seek daily to live under his influence.
ABOUT THE BIBLE The Bible is God’s Word to us. God inspired the original writings of the scriptures and breathed into each individual writer that which was written. Therefore we accept the Bible as the final authority for all matters of faith and practice.
ABOUT HUMAN BEINGS People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation and love. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin.” This attitude separates people from God and causes problems in life.
ABOUT THE CHURCH The church exists to preach and teach the Gospel, to bring the lost to Christ, to encourage the saved and to care for the needy.
ABOUT SALVATION We believe the Bible teaches that salvation and forgiveness of sin is a free gift to us, but that we must accept it. We believe the Bible teaches that one receives God’s grace by putting faith in Christ, repenting of sin, confessing Christ, and being immersed into Christ, but that none of these is sufficient in and of itself for the assurance of salvation.
ABOUT ETERNITY God created us to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places as described in the Bible.
