LET'S TAKE A WALK DOWN MEMORY LANE...
On April 10, 1999 a small group met in a home to discuss planting a church in southwest Allen county. Many things were discussed and prayed about. God placed "Southwinds" on the hearts of those there for the name of His Church. The next item was where to meet.
The Chapel was gracious to allow the small group to use their community room to meet, and Southwind's first worship service was on May 16, 1999 at 1 P.M.
We met on Sundays at 1 P.M. throughout the summer, and by fall had made arrangements for a more permanent location at Deer Ridge Elementary School. On September 5th we had a "trial run" worship service in the school.
The following week, on September 12,1999, Southwinds Church of Christ welcomed all to hear God's word preached.
We Praise God for our young people.
As time went on the congregation grew. A committee was formed on February 12th 2000 to search for available property on which to build. The Lord led us to our site on Dicke Road.
Our Building Committee first met with our building contractor in 2004 and plans were made for a facility that would serve our needs to bring the gospel to the community.
The Lord blessed our congregation, and we completed paying for the property. In the summer of 2006 the trees were cleared and by late fall we were ready to break ground.

In the spring of 2007 construction started with the foundation being poured and continued throughout the year.

Our children wrote their favorite scriptures and their thoughts on unfinished floors and walls. One little girl wrote that she " hoped to teach in this building some day."
ANNIVERSARY SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2007
Finally, on December 9, 2007 we held our 1st worship service.
After 3 months of finishing touches we had Dedication Sunday on March 16, 2008.
With a fellowship afterwards.
